400 mobility data sharing ecosystems identified in Europe

The PrepDSpace4Mobility project, as part of the common European mobility data space initiative, has created an inventory of nearly 400 mobility and transport data ecosystems in Europe.

📊 This inventory includes EU, national, and local initiatives and those driven by private actors. The project aims to provide a technical infrastructure and governance framework to facilitate controlled and secure access to and sharing data for passengers and freight.

✨ The common European mobility data space benefits citizens, businesses, and public authorities by improving transportation system monitoring and planning, enhancing operational efficiency for transport companies, enabling seamless multimodal trips for users, and optimising energy consumption and renewable energy production.✨ 

🔁 The initiative does not aim to replace existing initiatives but instead supports interoperability between them. Mapping existing initiatives is crucial for achieving this goal. The project will analyse the identified initiatives to propose standard building blocks and a framework.

📝 The project is collecting information through a survey to understand the characteristics and expectations of mobility data ecosystems. Preliminary results indicate a need for common data models, application programming interfaces (APIs), and data access and usage policies.
