The “Blockchain Venture Day” took place on the 2nd of December 2021, hosted and organised successfully by the LEDGER consortium partner BLUMORPHO. A significant part of this online event was dedicated to the second l part of LEDGER’s 2nd and 3rd cohort Demo Day, which included final conclusions and presentations now that after more than 3 years the project end is only weeks away.
The discussion was accompanied by a rock-solid panel of highly specialized experts from the LEDGER project, the European Commission, corporates, investors, entrepreneurs and institutions. They discussed the LEDGER project impact, and opportunities the DLTs can bring to citizens, social fabric, tech, business and society as a whole.
Key points discussed and brought up along the way were the following:
The morning started with a roundtable discussion between the LEDGER Project Officer - Fabrizio Sestini, the LEDGER Coordinator FundingBox’s co-founder - Sanyu Karani, and French Representative of the European Blockchain Partnership (Universite de Lille), Perrine de Coetlogon, who were talking about the LEDGER project, DLTs and their future developments/impacts.
They all agreed that the Blockchain is having an emerging role in sustainability, data protection, digital IDs, cybersecurity and interoperability.
Following this, Denis "Jaromil" Roio from Dyne.org gave an inspirational speech about LEDGER and the future of this type of Research and Innovation Actions within the Next Generation Internet Initiative, which was then followed by the top Demo Day pitches, including questions by a jury made up of LEDGER Advisory Board Members and Investors, resulting in 3 awards that were to be handed out in the afternoon.
The morning ended with a networking session between consortium partners, advisory board members, members of the 3 LEDGER cohorts, speakers and audience members.
The afternoon was fully dedicated to the Blockchain Venture and awarding prizes.

Finally, everyone present agreed on one thing (along with many others) - these conversations and events are very much needed, and despite the drawbacks and limitations, DLTs have a great potential to change our future for the better, therefore, LEDGER impact was very much seen and heard. We’ll certainly see more of this in the coming years, and onwards, looking forward to following the progress and development of all 3 LEDGER cohorts in the future.
