NGI Commons: Meet the Team

The NGI Commons initiative is a three-year European project focused on creating a long-term digital and Internet commons strategy.

These shared resources, which include information and technology owned collectively, play a crucial role in our digital lives. Yet, they often need more proper recognition and structure at the strategic level.

Digital commons face several challenges:

✅Fragmented funding.
✅Limited community representation.
✅Gaps between grassroots efforts and policy priorities.

✨NGI Commons was created to address these issues and align bottom-up activities with top-down policies, ensuring that commons are reused effectively and overlaps are avoided.✨

The project also works toward outcomes defined by the European Union’s NGI Commons Policy goals:

✅Better integration of the NGI vision with national and European policies.
✅Clearer mapping of existing commons communities.
✅A more coherent funding framework that spans both public and private sectors.
