Do you have everything you need, to prove that you are you?

Do you know how much information an average big company has about you? A research conducted in Austria claims there can be about 500 pages of various data about each one of us. Whenever you say “yes” to not-so-sweet tracking cookies, 150 to 200 companies are instantly receiving your data.

Those are part of the topics that were discussed last week during our virtual coffee break on Digital Identity with NGI community ambassador, Alex Puig.

Alex is a software developer with extensive experience in Blockchain and self-sovereign identity. He has always been involved in R+D projects and the tech entrepreneur scene leading different startups and launched one of the first Blockchain congresses, the Digital Currency Summit, with more than 10 editions.

A highlight from the discussion is that we have all been analyzed in detail to predict our future online behaviour and monetize our digital identities. How many digital identities do we actually have? 50, 100, 500? One thing is sure, we do not have control over any of them. And we are paying to have them, in most cases, not in fiat currency, but with our data, that is used to create our online behavioural profiles.

How to deal with this? We happily encourage you to follow the whole discussion in case you missed it, and learn more about ways on how to keep your data a bit more private until we figure out how to reboot the Internet.
