Daveed Benjamin is a Next Generation Internet community Ambassador and American technologist. He hosted the webinar “The power of viral misinformation and fake news in COVID-19”.

As a “Shift Shaper,” his work focuses on the collective wisdom and altering systems of consciousness for positive impact. Now he is the founder and CEO of WisdomTech startup Bridgit, Daveed’s focus is decentralizing knowledge & building collective intelligence.

“70% of fake news are more viral than real news”, asserted Benjamin. Who highlighted the danger that false or untruthful information has for users. In fact, in 2019 Facebook made an effort to reduce the number of fake news appearing on its social network. “Facebook took down 6 billion fake accounts in 2019”, according to David Benjamin.

There are 150 million fake accounts on Facebook. The main reason is that these users have the potential to change the behaviour of other users, from buying a different product to voting to a different person, what they achieve is to give the sense that this specific topic is of greater interest to the rest of the online community.
