About the event
Information security is a fundamental building block of our business. According to EURid, enforcing key security protocols such as DNSSEC helps reduce the chance that visitors are led to fake websites and tricked into supplying personal information if they enter a protected web address into their browser.
Security on the Web is crucial when aiming at building a European initiative for a Human Internet that respects the fundamental values of privacy, participation and diversity. This approach aligns with The Next Generation Internet goal to successfully address global sustainability challenges.

About Dirk Jumpertz and EURid
Dirk Jumpertz is the Security Manager at EURid, the top-level domain registry operator appointed by the EC for .eu, .ею and .ευ. His career started in the late 1990s while working at PING, one of the first internet service providers in Belgium. Since then he has deep-dived into internet technology and cybersecurity, gradually moving to cyber governance and policy.
EURid is the registry manager of the .eu, .ею (Cyrillic script) and .ευ (Greek script) country code top-level domain names by appointment of the European Commission. Their vision is to support the European Digital Single Market by actively working to ensure a trustworthy .eu environment and to enable online multilingualism.
About Cristian Hesselman and SIDN Labs
Cristian Hesselman directs SIDN Labs, the research arm of the operator of the Netherlands’ national top-level domain, .nl. His research focuses on advancing the Internet and future networks to support the higher degrees of trust that digital societies need, for instance through the design and evaluation of transparent and controllable networks and through large-scale infrastructure measurements. He is a member of SIDN’s leadership team, part-time Associate Professor at the University of Twente, member of the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) at ICANN, and chair of the board of directors at NLnet Labs. He received a Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Twente (2005), the Netherlands.
SIDN Labs strive to help the Dutch, European and global communities by contributing to ongoing improvement of the internet infrastructure's trustworthiness. Their work is motivated by the recognition that a secure, resilient and transparent internet infrastructure is of increasing social and economic importance.
